PIU Website Critique

17 of 31

PIU Website Critique

  • Series of Qualitative questions regarding opinions on the current pump it up website (phoenix.piugame.com)
  • Asked about the negatives/positives on the leaderboard & rating/profiles
  • Asked about any features that felt missing in the website for us to include in our project.

18 of 31

PIU Website Critique

  • In terms of positives:
    • Progress tracking was universally praised
    • Visual progression bar
    • Display rating needed to the next rank
    • How you need to place to promote
    • Seeing other players and THEIR progress

19 of 31

PIU Website Critique

  • In terms of Critiques:
    • Capped at OVER 20, and 100 players
      • Resources to remove the cap?
    • Who places higher in the case of 2 PGs?
      • 1: People who PG first should be higher
        • My worry is that users who lose their potential number 1 spot might feel discouraged from trying to play the chart
      • 2: People who PG a song should overtake the previous PG, that user can get their spot if they PG again
        • Gets annoying to constantly shoot for a PG, but maybe that is good to push people..?
    • Want to more easily see other user’s progress
      • Make profiles + scores public

20 of 31

PIU Website Critique

  • In terms of Missing Features:
    • Users found that the main website was unable to display that user’s best scores tab
      • No metrics of previous plays/skill
    • Rivals is a feature missed most by players
    • Per song on a user’s profile doesn’t list their placement on the leaderboard (for that chart)

Ranking Convention

Ranking Convention

23 of 31

Ranking Convention

General Idea: Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced/Expert/…?

  • To decide:
    • Within these ranks, how many subgroups?
      • I, II, III, IV, V
      • 1-10
    • Number based elo was pretty close as well
      • Have titles based on a value which scales on rating? (performance on a song)
        • Ie 1-15 (w/ decimal values):
          • Matching maimai/sdvx
