Eco-Schools is an international program of “Foundation for Environmental Education”, developed in Portugal, since 1996, by ABAE.

This program provides methodology, training, teaching materials, support and framework for the work developed by the school.

It aims to encourage actions, recognize and reward the work developed by the school in improving its environmental performance, managing the school space and raising community awareness.

In addition, it intends to create participation and citizenship habits, with the main objective of finding solutions that improve the quality of life at school and in the community

The main theme this year is “Green is not just a colour”, leading to the major concerns we have with our environment, and the need in educating people in order to make everyone capable of doing something for our planet.

Due to that, we can’t live by the belief on the existence of an alternative planet.

Our environment needs us, we want to make a difference, but we don’t have the tools to do it all by ourselves, we start to confuse facts with fiction, problems with solutions, clutter with clarity.

But if things were different, what if we weren’t alone, what if we had a better way of learning and start a global pursuit of building a better world?

That’s our goal, and that’s why we unite and change the challenge of building a better world to reality.

Maybe in the end, we begin to discover the vital connection between the environment and everything else.
