Agenda
Community Service Committee
To energize the local units by encouraging all members to volunteer in their schools and communities to address current needs and to cooperate with other organizations in the community on issues of common concern, especially responding to the specific needs of NCRSP members.
What is volunteering in the community?
--Volunteering in the community means giving your time and effort to help others or improve your neighborhood without being paid. It can include serving meals, tutoring, cleaning parks, helping neighbors, or helping local groups. Volunteering supports local needs while strengthening neighborhoods.
How can volunteering help people and the environment? Why do many people choose to volunteer?
*Volunteers may help with tutoring, transportation, and donation drives. Volunteering can help the environment through park cleanups, tree planting, litter removal, and conservation projects that protect natural spaces.
*Many retirees volunteer because they want to help others, support causes they care about, and make a positive difference in their community. Volunteering can also bring a sense of purpose and connection.
What are skills a person can build by volunteering? How does volunteering make a community stronger?
Get moving, do, and help.

Volunteering provides retirees with a renewed sense of purpose and a structured routine, combating the loneliness and depression that can occur when leaving the workforce. It also offers vital physical and mental benefits, helping to lower stress, maintain cognitive sharpness, and encourage an active lifestyle. [Maplewood]
