All samples kept within the COMBINEDBrain Biorepository are governed by the PAGs. The Biorepository Governing Committee (BGC) provides oversight over general policies and procedures, as well as sample distribution, and has the responsibility to review all sample requests. The BGC is composed of five individuals: two CB staff members, two CB PAG member leaders, and a pre-designated representative of the PAG responsible for the requested sample. PAG members designated to the BGC must complete a confidentiality agreement to ensure that they keep all sample requests confidential. In addition to confidentiality, all reviewers must have active training in human subjects clinical research. The two CB members serve as “objective” reviewers to provide an unbiased approach to sample approvals. All BGC members must unanimously agree to approve a sample request. Upon approval, the biorepository manager notifies the requesting scientist and provides an MTA for execution along with the sample distribution fee schedule.
