Rona and the moon is a Maori legend. Rona goes to get water for her children one night but marama, (the moon), hid behind a cloud which caused Rona to not be able to see. She cursed and yelled at marama making marama mad. This resulted in him pulling her up to the sky. However Rona held onto a ngaio tree which was pulled up with her as well the bucket she held.
