Cumberland County Public Schools Story

Where we started:

We have three schools at three very different locations. The high school had developed rubrics but only used in a few situations. The middle school had a committee but had not worked on rubrics. The elementary school had created rubric frameworks but had not shared beyond the creation committee.

Our End Goal:

We will finalize aligned 5C’s rubrics PK-12 that will be used in real world learning experiences to provide feedback to students that supported individual growth.

Cumberland County Elementary School’s Goal

Where we started:

We developed our development team and began to create the 5C’s rubrics.

Team members solicited input for teachers in all teams as they were developed.

We provided professional development on one rubric this year.

Professional development was used to help teachers know how to provide opportunities for students to develop these skills.

Our End Goal:

We will share our 5C’s rubrics with all of our teachers.

Teachers will use the rubrics in current learning experiences and provide feedback to students that supports growth.

Teachers will develop new learning experiences to continue student growth.

Cumberland Middle School’s Goal

Where we started:

We created our development committee with a representative from each content area.

We developed one rubric that outlined both teacher and student expectations.

Team members piloted the rubric with a learning experience in their classroom.

Our End Goal:

We create all 5C’s rubrics and ensure they are aligned with the elementary and high school.

We will share the rubrics with all teachers and have them incorporate them into learning experience in their class.

They will use these experiences to provide feedback to students to support growth.

Our End Goal:

The 5C’s rubrics will be shared with all teachers.

Teachers will use the 5C’s rubrics with learning experience in their classroom and provide feedback.
