Right Swipes - Key facts

What it is: Right Swipes is a puzzle/dating sim game currently in soft launch for mobile platforms (iOS/Android), inspired by titles such as Hunniepop or Kotodama. Set in a fictional dating-app, the game lets the player match with girls and engage in conversation with dialogue options and picture trade, paced by blast (match 3 variant) puzzle sequences.

Who it is: Production is spearheaded by Vivid Games, a 15-y old Polish mobile games developer and publisher with dozens of games under their belt - but there are a number of other actors involved.

Where it is at: The game is currently in its third development phase - the game is currently released in an early stage in a few countries, is entirely playable and contains 6 full routes.

We are currently working our way towards a larger soft launch phase, with additional gameplay systems and further content (currently aiming for 15 romanceable characters by next year).

What we’re looking for

The game currently has 6 girls with their own route, with 3 more in the works. We want to ramp up that number to eventually be able to release ~4 characters every month.

We are currently looking for ~3-4 writers who can write engaging, overall light-hearted dialogues with some flirting sprinkled on top. We do not necessarily require prior experience, however you will be expected to produce a ~500 words sample.

Each route is 5,000 - 10,000 words long depending on your arc needs.

You will be provided character sheets (see right), persona and arc description.

Each route has a single ending, with some short branches.

The entirety of the game is written via direct messages.

Rates: Starting at $0.04/word, payment via Paypal.

Content

Setting:

  • The whole game is takes place within the app, the characters do not interact outside of it, though they do have a life outside of course.
  • Since they are matched in the app, it is inferred that all characters live in the same city, located somewhere on the coast of an undisclosed western country (generally modelled after the US).

Tone:

  • The game is generally SOL/romance/fanservice.
  • While the core of the game is flirting, the girls should have enough depth to be enjoyable to talk with,
  • Girls will go through a simple arc, either growing themselves or their relation with the MC.

Characters:

  • Protagonist: ungendered. Blank sheet with a minimal level of information.
  • Romanceable characters: All women. Will come with their own two-pager brief, see further. All characters are adult (actual adults, no 800 years old lolis here).

Character brief - Vivian, 25

Personality: The straight, no-nonsense one. Efficiency machine and a bit of a visionary, aims for excellence and does not stop for others. She is not a prodigy however, she only accomplishes things via efforts and dedication. Defined by her career.

Analytical, fast thinker, although does tend to overdo things and lose her footing. Has always succeeded by doing her best to surpass expectations, and has started to fly a bit too close to the sun. Understands company politics but is awful at maneuvering in them.

She is also very self-conscious when it comes to her appearance.

Physical appearance: Mid 20s. Short hair, brown, definitely has bangs. American. Focused gaze. Pretty sharp traits. Average build, though has *thighs*. Wears a business suit, and has worn it long enough she knows where to take liberties with it.

Occupation: Project lead at a tech firm specialized in AI.

Examples: Akane Tsunemori (physically only, Psycho-Pass), Mayaka Ibara (Hyouka), Kyoka Jiro (My Hero Aca), Yano Erika (Shirobako)...

Likes: Getting lost in her work, being up when everyone is asleep, silence, the pressure of deadlines, the sense of accomplishment of presenting a project, routine, jogging

Dislikes: Having to eat, politics (state/at work), having to slow down for others, idling/”vibing”, being called a machine, her hair

Backstory - Vivian

Gimmicks/writing: Concise and organized - Vivian has been writing technical documentation for years and her style is extremely structured, though maybe a little mechanical. She is aware of it and makes use of smileys to compensate but it feels stiff.

Current activities: Project lead at a tech firm specialized in AI. Currently works on a “companion” project (yes, it’s a waifu bot). Also does cosplay on the side, and jogs very regularly (aside from her long work hours, she has a pretty good life hygiene).

Past: Vivian is the sole daughter of a blue collar couple. Her family struggled with making ends meet for most of her childhood, which led her to put immense pressure on herself to succeed in her studies. Vivian was her family’s first generation to get into higher education, and went in tech purely for the future prospects of the field. Somewhat surprisingly, it did not lead to her having to force herself to work hard - she ended up enjoying both her studies and the pressure from it, and took quite a bit of pride in her achievements, in no small part due to her parents pride.

She got into an IBM-type firm (lots of independent projects, massive funding) straight from her senior year internship to continue her graduation project working on a companion AI, focusing originally on conversation and upon early successes expanding to a full waifu-bot type project. However things have been going a little too well, and the project is starting to take a turn from pure research to potential commercial application, putting her under pressure both due to the growth of her team and from business suits who have taken notice.

Love life/app: Vivian does not have much in the way of free time so her love life has been very limited, though she did have a few partners during her studies. She is on the app due to needing to blow off some steam, and her daily life not providing her with opportunities. She is the type who can also get *very*freaky in private, as again she has a lot of pressure to get rid off.

Arc: Vivian is ambitious (not for herself but for her project) and competent, and is getting blocked by corporate and by the bucket of crabs effect. Her team is growing, and she is clearly not very good at being a manager as she does not wait on others. On top of that, she has made a lot of jealous “enemies” due to her project getting to such a scale so fast, and she is starting to break down from the pressure of it all - Vivian is good under pressure coming from work, not from people. She needs an outlet to gain her stability back.
