We know that buildings are more connected and digital, and hotels are no exception.

Schneider Electric has a long history of providing solutions for Hotels, and today there is a priority placed on ensuring that when they are traveling, guests enjoy the same personalized experiences and digitally-intuitive technology that they get at home

Based on this, we have worked with some of the largest players in the segment to develop our EcoStruxure for Hotels vision. It’s built on four core needs:��(*) The first is the Connected guest – providing more Engaging and personalized guest services;�(*) And one of the primary places we do that is in Connected rooms, by leveraging IoT to provide a more Digitized room experience.

Now, let’s take a closer look of our system architectures and the products at their core.

These are integrated and validated solutions for all three categories of hotels.

(*) For Limited Service hotels, we provide a variety of thermostats (such as the TC900 series) for Fan Coil Unit applications that works with keycard holders for basic occupancy control. �The TC900 series can address stand-alone applications, and it includes products with a Modbus interface that can integrate with the RP-C Controller.

(*) From mid-level Limited Service to Full Service Hotels, our SE8000 room controller offer acts as a mini controller for basic temperature, lighting control and occupancy logic control, and can be connected to the BMS by the AS-P. At the Room Level, the SE8000 manages Light & Blind Control, and supports Dry Contact, HMIs, ModBus RTU (Glass Touch Panels), and ZigBee 3.0-compliant devices.

(*) And then from mid-level Full Service Hotel to the top level of Luxury hotels, we offer Connected Room Solutions for Hotels, which is the subject of this module, and into which we will now look at in more detail.

For full-service and luxury hotels that want to provide the ultimate in-room experience for their guests, EcoStruxure Connected Room Solutions for Hotels is a connectivity hub for efficiency, personalized guest experiences, and occupancy-based energy management.

�This modular & scalable IoT ecosystem provides guest room control for temperature, lighting, curtains, housekeeping, maintenance, and integration of data from Building, Guest Room, and Property management systems, & door locks. Through this integration, operators can see occupancy and DND/MUR status, troubleshoot problems remotely, and automate energy use based on occupancy. �It also features modern guest room architecture, elegantly designed guest-facing controls, and a host of new tools for better installation and commissioning.

So let’s take a closer look at EcoStruxure Connected Room Solutions and how it is integrated to our Guest Room architecture :��(*) Let’s start with the RPC Controller in the room level:

(*) As well as it’s own IO capabilities, it also has 2 communication ports.

(*) One is a Room Bus for the light & Blind expansions modules.

(*) The other port can be configured for either Sensor Bus or Modbus RTU.

(*) Its extensible architecture is designed for a wide range of modular components including temperature, light and blind control user interfaces.

(*) Plus door lock integration in room level via USB ZigBee Dongle

(*) At floor level, the room controllers connect back to an AS-P, with each AS-P having a maximum capacity of 50 RPC Controllers.

(*) And at the building level we connect to EcoStruxure Building Operation. This allows us to integrate to the Property Management and Door lock systems, and provide efficiency tools such as the Guest Room Expert platform and configuration tools:

At this point of the training, we’ll zoom-in each of the features that make up The Connected Room Solution for Hotels.

At the foundation of the Connected Room Solution for Hotels is the (*) RP-C, a modular BACnet IP Controller that controls and interfaces with all subsystems and IoT devices in a guest room.

(*) It provides standard temperature, lighting and blind control in hotel guest rooms as well as meeting rooms and common space areas.�

(*) The RP-C leverages the latest built-in wireless capabilities and open protocols, for easy IoT device integration and fast installation. Onboard BLE enables easy & fast commissioning via mobile phone without having IP infrastructure in place.
