Updating a Student Chromebook

Step 1:

Once you are logged into your Chromebook, click the time box at the bottom right corner of your screen.

Step 2:

Click the circular settings icon.

Step 3:

At the bottom of the left menu, click “About ChromeOS”.

You may see a screen that looks like this. If so, you will need to click the blue “Chrome OS Settings” link to access your settings.

If you do not see this screen, you are already in your settings.

Step 4:

Click the

“Check for updates”

button on the right.

If your device needs updating, it will automatically begin to update and you will see the progress percentage.

The update will take several minutes to reach 100%. The update is NOT fully installed yet, even once it has reached 100% progress.

Step 5:

When the device is ready to finish the update, click the “Restart” button that will appear to the right.

Repeat Steps 1-3 to re-access your ChromeOS settings.

Check for the “Your Chromebook is up to date” message.

You may need to repeat Steps 4-5 again if your device is still not fully updated.
