  • Accompanied by Procedures
  • For University-wide policies or those affecting more than one department
  • Provides a standardized process for development, approval, and maintenance
  • Ensures that Policies are:
    • Aligned with University’s missions and goals
    • Concise and easy to understand
    • Consistent in format
    • Properly vetted and approved
    • Remain compliant as laws affecting them change over time

The Policymaking Process

  • Vice Presidents identify need for University-wide policy or revision to existing Policy
  • Policy Initiator, with assistance of VP, drafts policy, using policy development form and template and in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Draft is submitted to PAC for review and feedback
  • Draft is posted for public comment
  • Comments are considered and incorporated as appropriate
  • Cabinet approves Policy
  • Policy is sent to President for signature
