(A big island of garbage in the north pacific ocean.)
What type of material floats in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch?
Answer:Chip packets, plastic bags, fishing nets and lines, cables, tyres, ropes, clothing,
pencils, pens, lighters, bottles, computer moniters, straws, toys, forks, spoons and much much more.
Where does the garbage come from?
Answer:It comes off boats,gets swept out of rivers comes from drains gets carried over by Cyclones and Tsunamis.
How big is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch?
Anwser:The exact size of the Great pacific garbage patch is unknown.It is estimated to be 0.41% to 8.1% the size of the pacific ocean or twice the size of Texas.
Did you know that 90% of the garbage we throw away ends up in Earth’s oceans.Less than 5% of all plastic is recycled.
What percentage of the world’s plastic is produced annually?
Answer:About 10 percent of the worlds annual output is 200 billion pounds of produced plastic.It gets caught in winds and gets swept out of rivers.
Did you know that these patches also contain chemicals and debris.Fish and birds eventually eat the plastic when it has dissolved into tiny pieces.Humans than eat these fish.
Did you know that there is more plastic than plankton in the ocean.
