A CONSONANT

The verb “get” is a very common word in English. It has several meanings:

  1. When we use “get” before a noun, it usually means “receive”, “buy”, “obtain”, “catch” or something similar.
  2. When we use “get” before an adjective (e.g. cold) or before a past participle (e.g. married), it means “become”.
  3. We don’t normally use “get” in very formal written English.
