Protect Against Discrimination

By: Mariah AL-Amin, Riley Cox, & Pleasant Collier

OVERVIEW

Gender inequality is the legal, social and culture situation in which sex and/or gender determine different rights and dignity for women and men.

30% of women are affected by gender inequality whereas only 25% of men are affected.

Gender inequality is a global issue.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Women and transgender people often face discrimination because of their gender and/or how they choose to identify and present themselves.

People in these categories often get paid less in their jobs, are harassed, and have living and financial problems due to chronic discrimination.

OBJECTIVES

  • Create better paying jobs and opportunities for women and trans people.
  • Create and promote support groups around mentorships, financial literacy, professional development for women and trans people.
  • Create safe houses for women and trans people when in abusive living situations.
