Learning Module #6

3D Printed Spider Robot

By: Dominick Rivera & Kevin Bond

2 of 6

Initial Goals

  • Learn how to import sketch files into 3D printer
  • Utilize 3d Printer to print out the parts
  • Program the Robot to move utilizing Sg90 servos and an arduino sensor shield.
  • Learn how to wire and program an ultrasonic sensor using an arduino
  • Import an ultrasonic sensor into the robot

What was learned and Accomplished

  • We learned how to import 3d sketches into a 3D printer and print them out.
  • We learned how to wire and program an ultrasonic sensor using an arduino.
  • Learned how to program and utilize multiple servos as once.
  • Learned what an arduino sensor shield is and how it works.
  • Able to 3D print all the parts.

Issues and Problems

  • Had to refresh ourselves on the basics of arduinos
  • 3D parts got messed up when trying to print more than one part.
  • Code would not upload at first due to a compilation error but was fixed after downloading a certain library file.
  • Computer battery got burned twice due to battery plugged in the computer
  • 3D parts were not able to fit some of the screws and servos within.
  • Lost a part (One of the smaller pieces)

Final Project

  • Was able to get some of the leg done
  • Was unable to connect to the body because of pieces not fitting
  • Other legs had difficulty fitting the servos within it.
