Sample Traditional Assessment

10

IB-MYP summative assessments at NMS are authentic and based off the statement of inquiry that provide students an opportunity to demonstrate the application of essential knowledge, conceptual understanding and skills. Assessments are product or performance based which allows students to practice transferring their learning to stimulate real-world experiences and develop time-management skills. Students are engaged to think critically, involving analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. Teachers use rubrics with feedback for students to help cultivate their learning and allow for reflection.

Benefits of the Middle Years Program

15

Teachers work endlessly to develop engaging interactive lessons that are inquiry based and challenge our students to learn and grow.

Each unit of study within a subject area is linked to a statement of inquiry and key concepts that help students apply their learning beyond the classroom.

Teachers also collaborate across disciplines to demonstrate how concepts of one subject are drawn upon in other subject areas.

Shadowing

Each year we look forward to meeting potential students and their families and showcasing our world-class school.

Shadowing is an opportunity for your student to come and visit NMS. They will be matched up with a current student and will accompany them to a few of their classes. This is a great opportunity for students whose neighborhood middle school is not NMS.

Students whose home middle school is NMS will receive a comprehensive tour during the 5th grade step-up day in May of their 5th grade year.

18

If you would like to schedule a time for your student to shadow or tour, please contact Mrs. Betts at mnbetts@mpsomaha.org or (402) 715-1280.

Tours

Tours are offered Mondays through Fridays and last approximately 45 minutes.

If you have additional questions about the International Baccalaureate-Middle Years Program at Millard North Middle School please contact Mrs. Betts at mnbetts@mpsomaha.org or
