  • Hole/ Blank Spot on your schedule (You should not have a ‘0 Hour’ scheduled)
  • 2 of the same class or missing a class (ex. I have 2 science classes)
    • Exception: Students who have ADSIS, will have two reading or math classes (Ms. Hoffman for reading and Ms. Boelter for math)
  • Different Grade Class (ex. I am in 8th grade but my schedule says band-6th grade)

Passing Time: 4 Minutes

  • Teachers will dismiss you- do not use the bells as they are different for each grade.
  • Visit your locker if needed (sometimes it is better to bring your next class materials with you)
  • Please walk, stay on the right side, and use an “inside voice.”
  • Use the bathroom and get a drink of water.
  • It may not seem like a lot of time, but it is enough. If you are having problems with the amount of time, talk to a teacher or counselor about it. They will help.

What time can I get to school?

7:00

  • Doors will open at 7:00. This is when we have supervision.
  • You may wait in the media center flex space
  • Please plan accordingly.
  • Let us know if you have problems with this time. Let’s talk about it - Mrs. Critchley, Mr. Bergeson, Mr. Jacobs can help!

  • Get your breakfast before the warning bell at 7:27
  • Clean up, clean up - we will call you back down to clean your area and give you a tardy
  • You cannot bring food out of the cafeteria
  • Started on Tuesday, 9-2-25

What do I do when I arrive at school?

  • Enter school through door #1 (front door)
  • Enter school through door #23 if you ride the bus
  • Get breakfast if you want it
  • Use the restroom/wash hands
  • Go to your locker to get ready for the day!
  • Be on time for class with all of your materials.
  • SMILE - it’s going to be a great day!

  • Shut them off - save your battery
  • Do not use them during locker visits/passing time

Lockers

  • You are responsible for keeping them clean
  • Do not keep food in them (other than lunch from home and afterschool snack)
  • Lock them up!
  • Keep your combinations confidential
  • They are school property

Chromebooks

  • Each teacher has a cart of chromebooks
  • Students will be assigned to a chromebook for each period
  • Treat them well - or you may not be allowed to use them and/or you may be charged for any damages.
  • Chromebooks stay in school
  • If you do not have a computer at home and need one for school purposes, you may check one out.
    • Have your parent/guardian reach out to one of the principals.

Will I change for PE?

Yes, but don’t worry about it today or tomorrow! Your PE teachers will be assigning lockers, reviewing what you need, etc. during your first couple of class periods.

P.S. Don’t forget our crazy MN weather and be prepared for hot or cold weather on any given day.

OH YES! PLEASE! READ! READ! READ! It is good for you, so fun, and helps you go on lots of adventures.

Be Respectful

  • Only eat the food on your plate

  • Clean up your area: table and floor

  • Listen to lunchroom supervisors

  • Raise your hand if you need something and wait for staff to respond

Be Safe

  • Wash Your Hands!

  • Walk at all times

  • Keep hands to yourself

  • Inside voices

  • No horseplay. No fighting

Be Responsible

  • Wait your turn in line

  • All food and drink stays in the eating area

  • Pick up trash around you

  • Use the restroom prior to arriving in the lunchroom

Lunch Room Dismissal

  • You may dump your tray when you are done eating and return to your seat. Please make sure you get all of the food in the garbage. It is not nice to the custodians when you make a mess.
  • Remain in your seat - no walking around to other tables.
  • You must get permission from a supervisor to go to the bathroom.
  • You will be dismissed table by table. All garbage and food must be cleaned up before you will be dismissed.

Recess

  • We will have recess after lunch when the weather allows
  • Students will be dismissed to go outside by the supervisors
  • Be kind, be respectful, - show your SAINTS PRIDE
  • Any behavior issues will result in loss of recess time.
  • All students will go outside so bring appropriate clothes

SFMS Daily Schedule

  • Teachers - visit one stop shop and click on schedules. Ms. Buzzell has them all there for you.

  • School day starts at 7:32 and ends at 2:12

  • Day One and Day Two - what does that mean?
    • It states on your schedule when you have classes that are every other day...that is all it is. For example, P.E. on day one and Music on day two. Don’t worry, it will get easier to remember.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 3rd is a Day One
  • Thursday, Sept 4th is a Day Two
  • Etc.

Focus Room

  • This room is designated for those students who need to process their behaviors due to a behavior referral.
  • Follow up will occur by a staff member who will utilize restorative questions and/or take other measures depending on the situation.
  • Students will reflect, discuss and reset prior to returning to class.
  • Behavior Interventionists who work in the Focus Room are Ms. McCoy and Ms. Nelson
  • Mr. Bergeson or Mr. Jacobs will address students’ behaviors including majors or repeated minor behaviors that have not improved.

How do tardies work?

  • “Tardy” means that you are LATE to your class!
  • When the bell rings- you need to be ready to learn!!!
  • ***ATTENTION***
    • Your teachers will NOT count tardies until the start of week 3 - unless you are abusing it.
    • Tardies are taken every hour, every day.
    • After 3 tardies, you will receive after school detention
      • Parents will have to pick you up after detention

What is bullying?

  • Rude: When someone says or does something hurtful but they only do it once.
  • Mean: When someone says or does something on purpose that is hurtful and then do it again, that’s mean
  • Bullying: Intentionally aggressive behavior, repeated over time, that involves an imbalance of power.

  • Progressive consequences

Middle Schoolers- it matters that we all STAND UP and SPEAK OUT when we see someone being treated poorly!

Always tell a trusted adult if you see bullying behavior! BE BRAVE- YOU CAN STAND UP TO BULLIES!

It happens- we understand. Maybe you had an early appointment, overslept or missed the bus! Whatever the reason, here’s what you need to do:

  • Enter the building through the MAIN DOORS
  • The office will give you a disposable pass to class

We are glad you are here, now forget about it and move on to have a great day!

Your parent or guardian needs to:

  • 1st choice: send an email to Peggy or Deb that you will be walking over and at what time

  • 2nd choice: send a note with you to give to the Main Office

  • 3rd choice: call the school 763-213-1800 main line

I’m being picked up early!

OK. Maybe you’re off to an appointment or need to head out of town for a family event. Whatever the reason, here’s the procedure for leaving early:

  • Parent/Guardian sends email that you will be picked up OR
  • Parent/Guardian sends a note OR
  • Parent/Guardian calls the school 763-213-1800 main line

Your teacher will get an email saying that you are leaving at a specific time. Come down to the main office and exit out the front doors.

What do I do if I am absent?

Have your parent or guardian tell the school about your absence:

Depending on how long you will be absent- your teachers will get you your missing school work.

What if I get sick at school?

  • GO TO THE NURSE!
    • Your teacher will give you a pass.
    • They will take good care of you :)
    • If you need to be picked up, they will call your parent/guardian or emergency contact.

  • ALL STUDENTS LEAVING SCHOOL DUE TO ILLNESS NEED TO LEAVE THROUGH THE HEALTH OFFICE.
    • This helps the school know who is sick.

  • What is it?
  • It is kind of like a homeroom in elementary school
  • You and your parents’ “go to” teacher
  • It is a time to get extra help from your teachers
  • Work on PBIS and Saints P.R.I.D.E. - we will talk about it more tomorrow

Where is my bus

  • If you need your bus#, ask your Saints Time teacher

  • You must get on your bus at the middle school...no walking to the high school and then getting on the bus. You will not be allowed on. Don’t do this to yourself or parents/guardians!

  • Students will be on the sidewalk waiting
  • When you see your parents in the line, you can get in

PBIS

What is it and why?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. PBIS helps improve school safety and promote positive behavior. We want you to do the best you can at everything in school

We will share more information about it in the next couple of weeks, but please know you are going to love it.
