DESIGNING WITH LED TECHNOLOGY: IN-RUSH CURRENT

Inrush current is the instantaneous high input current drawn by an electrical equipment at turn-on.

The inrush current is also known as the switch-on surge, or the input surge current. Generally measured in ampere per second (A/s)

In lighting, the fluorescent ballast and the LED driver will draw a high current when the fixtures are switched on,

Then regulate down to the rated operation current.

This will be one of the important factors in determining what type of circuit breaker to use and how many

fixtures we can allocate in a circuit.
