Wind energy is a type of energy that is renewable because it can be used over and over again. Wind energy comes from wind farms like the ones in Ellensburg Washington. This picture of a windmill is a windmill that pumps water into a pool.

Windmills are a good way to produce energy because it helps produce electricity that we need. For example a sailboat needs wind energy to go, otherwise the boat will not sail.

Four percent of the Electricity in the USA comes from the wind and the wind turbines that you see in places like the WIld Horse Wind Farm mentioned earlier. That might not sound like a lot but it's enough electricity to power ten million homes!

Wind Turbines cost a lot of money. The average wind turbine cost $48,000-$65,000 dollars just to install! The equipment cost about 40,000 dollars. Thatś a lot of money!

Wind turbines use the kinetic energy in the wind and convert it to mechanical or electrical energy. This electricity or mechanical power can be used for grinding wheat or other grains. We use wind energy or wind turbines to power homes or schools with electricity.

Expensive because the cost is high for power plants that generate electricity. Plants that generate electricity are dangerous to humans. Temperatures are about 350 degrees fahrenheit or higher.

The first time people tried using geothermal energy to make electrical energy was in the 18th century by the Italians.

One example of solar energy is a solar tree. A solar tree is a tree, but instead of leaves it has solar panels! This solar tree stores energy during the day and creates light at night.

Sound waves allow you to hear things around you.

Sound Energy is energy that travels through particles in the air or through an object. Sound Energy is made by and can travel through vibration. Sound Energy involves and high and low pitch which travels with different wavelengths.
When a bird tweets, a dog barks, a pencil breaks, that is using Sound Energy. Did you know when you clap your hands at a wall the Sound Energy bounces back at you?

When you make sound at a wall, the Sound Energy bounces back which makes new sound waves.

No, our planet can not keep up with the demand for chemical energy. For example, to create more fossil fuel, we would have to wait a minimum of 250,000,000 years!
