Background�

• As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of academia, securing external funding through successful grant applications has become increasingly essential for the growth and sustainability of our research initiatives.

​

• The primary objective of this workshop is to enhance the knowledge and skills of our academic staff and researchers in the art of preparing, packaging, submitting, and winning grants.

​

• By providing comprehensive training in grant proposal, design and development, we aim to empower the academic staff of Koladaisi to competitively pursue and secure external funding opportunities.

​

Workshop Components�

The workshop components include the following:

• Grant writing essentials: This is covering the fundamental elements of a successful grant proposal including project design, literature review, methodology, budgeting, and impact assessment.

​

• Funding landscape analysis: Understanding the current funding landscape, identifying relevant funding sources, and tailoring proposals to meet the specific criteria of potential donors.

​

• Proposal evaluation and review: Establishing a peer review system to facilitate constructive feedback on grants proposals, ensuring a high standard of quality in submission.

​

• Workshop facilitators: Engaging experienced grant writers, successful awardees, and funding agency representatives to share insights, best practices and tips for success.

​

Course Rationale�

• There is the need to diversify the sources of Universities funding internally and externally

​

• We should know that the market all over the world is becoming increasingly competitive, therefore, justifying this workshop.

​

• There is also the need to avail the academic staff of Koladaisi University the needed opportunity to strengthen their skills in writing effective proposals to enable them win internal and external research grants.

​

Course Description�

• Part of the capacity strengthening initiatives focusing directly on enhancing the productivity and competitiveness of researchers as far as grant financing of research in this university is concerned.

​

• This will cover key aspects of competitive research grants including sources of grants (individual, team and collaborative proposals with others in other institutions, building relations with funders including post-award follow-ups, research budget development, and grant research deliverables.

​

• The course is designed as part of Koladaisi in-house training programme and will be delivered by multi-disciplinary team of professors taking into cognizance the faculty and departmental structures as well as policy research focus of this university.

​

• At the end of the course, it would be obvious that individual researcher’s skills in grant proposal writing will be greatly improved, and it will lead to an increased level of success in grant competition and grater reputation for Koladaisi university as an emerging and growing university.
