Night-time at The Outdoor School

• ONLY teachers and parent chaperones will stay in the cabins with the students.
• Each female teacher will keep her homeroom girls. Mr. Alman will stay with his boys.
• We will need volunteer dads to stay in the boys cabins and volunteer moms to stay in Mr. Alman’s girl cabin,

Number of Parents Needed

• 2 dads per night for each of our 6 female teachers’ boy cabins and 2 volunteer moms for Alman’s girl cabin.
• 14 chaperones and perhaps an alternate list in case of … well just in case.

CABINS

• Rustic, enclosed cabins
• Bunk beds with mattresses
• NO HEATERS – be prepared for cool temperatures!!!
• No electrical outlets
• No food or candy in cabins

• Ceiling fans in every cabin
• Cabins are equipped with window slats
• Bathrooms are close to all Cabins

MEDICINES & EMERGENCIES

• TOS medical form and agreement form are required of all students and chaperones.
• We always love/hope to have a nurse or doctor as one of our parent chaperones.
• Teachers will hand out all medication. Students may not have any medicine with them.
• All TOS instructors are CPR and 1^st Aid Certified.
• Children who get ill will be sent home.

Notes about Medication

• ALL medicines MUST be in original container or prescription bottle.
• ALL medicines must be in a baggie WITH an official RRISD Request To Administer Medication form. Write Student’s name and teacher’s name on the baggie.
• Dosage instructions on the form must match package labels and/or prescription.
• Send only medicine that is absolutely necessary.

• PLEASE be here to pick up your child by or before 2:45.
• Please do not expect your child to ride the school bus home with all of his/her belongings.

How much does it cost?

​

• The Outdoor School costs $155 per student. 3 buses cost approximately $3,200
• Many of our students earned money from last year’s fundraiser to go towards their fees.
• “Extra” money earned from the fundraiser will go towards a scholarship fund for students needing financial assistance. This will be different this year after last year’s Spirit Store. More details to come.
• PTA provides $3,000 to reduce the total cost of the trip and help with scholarships.
• Scholarship applications are available from your child’s teacher upon parent request.
