Aalo Atomics breaks ground at INL site

  • August 28th - Aalo Atomics hosted a groundbreaking of their demonstration reactor at Idaho National Lab
  • Goal of entering operations by July 4th, 2026
  • Additionally, Westinghouse and Radiant’s microreactor products were selected for the Demonstration of Microreactor Experiments (DOME) project, also at INL

Meta to buy power from Clinton Clean Energy Center

  • Meta signed a 20 year power purchase agreement with Constellation for the power from Clinton Clean Energy Center
  • Will allow plant to remain open, apply for a license extension, and receive a power uprate
  • Follows a similar agreement last year for Microsoft to purchase power from the reopening Three Mile Island Unit 1

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) raises additional $863 million

  • CFS announced the secondary Series B funding round on August 28th, bringing total funding raised to almost $3 Billion
  • The new group of investors included NVIDIA, which joins Google and Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy major investors

Palisades Nuclear Generating Station re-enters operational status

  • August 25th - Palisades Nuclear Generating Station officially transitioned from decommissioning status back to operational status
  • Officially commissioned in 1971, closed by Entergy in May 2022, and sold to Holtec June 2022
  • DOE is offering $1.5 Billion in loans to support the reopening, in addition to state funding

TVA and Entra1 to deploy 6 GW of NuScale SMRs

  • The Tennessee Valley Authority announced the partnership today which will add 6 GW of installed nuclear capacity to its service area
  • Plants will be financed, built, owned, and operated by Entra1 who will be selling the power produced to TVA
  • Plants will be built using the NuScale 77 MWe NPM
