He Makes a God and Worships it
طبع الحديد قدوما، وعمل في الفحم ، وبالمطارق يصوره فيصنعه بذراع قوته. يجوع أيضا فليس له قوة. لم يشرب ماء و قد تعب. نجر خشبا. مد الخيط. بالمخرز يعلمه، يصنعه بالأزاميل، وبالدوارة يرسمه. فيصنعه كشبه رجل كجمال إنسان ليسكن في البيت.
The blacksmith with the tongs works one in the coals, Fashions it with hammers, And works it with the strength of his arms. Even so, he is hungry, and his strength fails; He drinks no water and is faint. The craftsman stretches out his rule, He marks one out with chalk; He fashions it with a plane, He marks it out with the compass, And makes it like the figure of a man, According to the beauty of a man, that it may remain in the house.
قطع لنفسه أرزا وأخذ سنديانا وبلوطا، واختار لنفسه من أشجار الوعر. غرس سنوبرا و المطر ينميه. فيصير للناس للإيقاد و يأخذ منه و يتدفأ. يشعل أيضا ويخبز خبزا ثم يصنع إلها فيسجد قد صنعه صنما و خر له. نصفه أحرقه بالنار. على نصفه يأكل لحما. يشوي مشويا و يشبع يتدفأ أيضا و يقول: "بخ قد تدفأت. رأيت نارا."
He cuts down cedars for himself, And takes the cypress and the oak; He secures it for himself among the trees of the forest. He plants a pine, and the rain nourishes it. Then it shall be for a man to burn, For he will take some of it and warm himself; Yes, he kindles it and bakes bread; Indeed he makes a god and worships it; He makes it a carved image, and falls down to it. He burns half of it in the fire; With this half he eats meat; He roasts a roast, and is satisfied. He even warms himself and says, "Ah! I am warm, I have seen the fire."
وبقيته قد صنعها إلها، صنما لنفسه يخر له ويسجد ويصلي إليه ويقول: "نجني لأنك أنت إلهي." لا يعرفون و لا يفهمون لأنه قد طمست عيونهم عن الإبصار وقلوبهم عن التعقل. (إش 44 : 12 – 18)
And the rest of it he makes into a god, His carved image. He falls down before it and worships it, Prays to it and says, "Deliver me, for you are my god!" They do not know nor understand; For He has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, And their hearts, so that they cannot understand. (Isa 44 : 12 – 18)

وبينما هم يزعمون أنهم حكماء صاروا جهلاء، وأبدلوا مجد الله الذي لا يفنى بشبه صورة الإنسان الذي يفنى والطيور والدواب والزحافات. لذلك أسلمهم الله أيضا في شهوات قلوبهم إلى النجاسة لإهانة أجسادهم بين ذواتهم.
Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man -- and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,

الذين استبدلوا حق الله بالكذب، واتقوا وعبدوا المخلوق دون الخالق، الذي هو مبارك إلى الأبد. آمين. لذلك أسلمهم الله إلى أهواء الهوان لأن إناثهم استبدلن الاستعمال الطبيعي بالذي على خلاف الطبيعة.
who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.

و كذلك الذكور أيضا تاركين استعمال الأنثى الطبيعي، اشتعلوا بشهوتهم بعضهم لبعض فاعلين الفحشاء ذكورا بذكور، ونائلين في أنفسهم جزاء ضلالهم المحق. و كما لم يستحسنوا أن يبقوا الله في معرفتهم أسلمهم الله الى ذهن مرفوض ليفعلوا ما لا يليق.
Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

لا يقدر أحد أن يخدم سيدين، لأنه إما أن يبغض الواحد ويحب الآخر، أو يلازم الواحد و يحتقر الآخر. لا تقدرون أن تخدموا الله والمال. لذلك أقول لكم: لا تهتموا لحياتكم بما تأكلون وبما تشربون و لا لأجسادكم بما تلبسون. أليست الحياة أفضل من الطعام والجسد أفضل من اللباس؟ (مت 6 : 24 – 25)
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
