9 of 50

Ribosome

  • When Ribosome make proteins then they use it to support the cells functions.
  • Ribosomes are the protein builders, so Ribosomes make the peptide bonds so that the peptide bonds can connect amino acids together.
  • Ribosomes are found in many places around the cell.

Golgi Complex <3 Staffs

12 of 50

Golgi Complex → staff

  • helps make and package macromolecules (proteins and lipids) to be transported out of the cell
  • Puts substances in structure

The Golgi Complex is like staffs because they both have the duty to pack things and transport them. ♥(Golgi complex - Packs materials and transports it)

♥ ( Staffs- Makes the CDs and transports to CD shops)

13 of 50

Golgi Complex

  • The Golgi complex gathers simple molecules and combines them to make molecules that are more complex
  • It take the molecules, packs them in vesicles, then stores it for later or sends it out of the cell
  • Vesicles are the packages that keeps molecules.

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum <3 Music editor

20 of 50

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum → Music editor

  • its surface is attached with ribosomes
  • It transports proteins that ribosomes make.
  • Rough ER → Folds and bends proteins in order to give them their shape

  • We compared this to the music editor because they both have the duty to change things to improve them or make it better.

21 of 50

Extra Information

  • it is called “rough” because its outer surface is attached with ribosomes
  • it is responsible for moving ribosomes from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, and this is where many proteins are created
  • They change the shape of the proteins to make it perfect

22 of 50

S&F of Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum

STRUCTURE

FUNCTION

-transport proteins that ribosome makes (packaging of proteins)

- Makes proteins perfect

23 of 50

Vacuole → Storage Room

24 of 50

Vacuole → Storage Room

  • Vacuoles are a storage area in the cell

- We decided to compare vacuoles with a One Direction’s storage room because they both are storage area.

25 of 50

More information about Vacuoles:

  • Vacuoles are found in both animal and plant cell.
  • Vacuoles might store necessaries things that the cell needs in order to survive like food and water
  • Plant cells have one large vacuole but animal cells have many small vacuoles.

26 of 50

Structure & Function of Vacuole

STRUCTURE

FUNCTION

- stores necessaries things

- It helps maintain the amount of pH in the cell

- Isolates the toxin that is bad for cells.

27 of 50

Mitochondria → Electricity

28 of 50

Mitochondria → Electricity

  • Mitochondria is known as the powerhouse of the cell
  • They create energy to the cell

  • We decided to compare Mitochondria with electricity of the studio (like the microphones, lights, ect) because they both “give energy.”

29 of 50

Mitochondria

  • Mitochondria are very small organs
  • They are organelles that act like a digestive

system - because they take in nutrients, break it down, and gives energy to the cell

  • Cellular respiration is the process of creating energy to the cell
  • ATP → carries energy

30 of 50

S&F of Mitochondria

STRUCTURE

FUNCTION

- Producing energy (Converting oxygen and worn out nutrients into usable energy)

31 of 50

Chloroplast → Fans

32 of 50

Chloroplast → Fans

  • Chloroplast are like the food processor of the cell

  • We compared Chloroplasts to One Direction’s fans because chloroplasts make the cells go on and the fans are the things that help support 1D and make it famous

33 of 50

Chloroplast

  • Chloroplasts are only found in plant cells
  • Give plants its color
  • They convert energy from the sun into sugar and produces oxygen; this process called photosynthesis.

34 of 50

S & F of Chloroplast

STRUCTURE

FUNCTION

- Make sugar and starches (by the process called photosynthesis)

35 of 50

Peroxisome → Bin

36 of 50

Peroxisome

  • It is similar to Lysosome (are different in the type of enzyme they hold)
  • Containing more than 50 enzymes involved in different activities.
  • Peroxisome and lysosome are often called as garbage disposal system of a cell.

We compared Peroxisome to the bin because they are a garbage of the cells/studio.

37 of 50

Peroxisome

  • Its has a single membrane and they are good at breakdown fatty acid molecules.
  • Its only found in plant cells
  • Contain the enzyme catalase which decomposes hydrogen peroxide.

38 of 50

S&F of Peroxisome

STRUCTURE

FUNCTION

- breaks down fatty acids (acids produced when fats are broken down)

39 of 50

Lysosome <3 Studio’s Toilet

40 of 50

Lysosome → Studio’s Toilet

  • Only found in animal cells.
  • Its break down the waste that come inside cells, such as viruses, bacteria, or dead cells.

  • We compare it with the studio’s toilet because the toilet contains waste and breaks down things.

41 of 50

Cytoplasm → Floor

  • A Cytoplasm is a the liquid inside the cell.
  • It allows things inside the cell to move around.

  • Cytoplasm is like a floor because it stays in the empty spaces.
  • And floor also allow people to move.
  • Inside the cytoplasm, there are enzymes that break the molecules down.

Cytoskeleton → Walls

  • A cytoskeleton provides a structure for the cell.
  • An important thing a cytoskeleton does is, it links the cell membrane to the internal parts of the cell.

  • A cytoskeleton is like a wall because it provides a structure too, for what the wall is built into, it also connects different parts of the structure together.
