AUTOMOBILE WORKSHOP SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • Wear tight clothes. Loose clothing or long hair will bring danger.
  • Wear covered footwear. Never use sandals or chapels.
  • Never use operate a machine anless otherwise you thoroughly it’s mechanism.
  • Wear goggles while chipping, welding or grinding.
  • Always wear safety hand gloves, an apron or dungance and leather shoes in the workshop.

SCREW DRIVER �������SPANNER /WRENCH

These are used to tighten or loosen screw in machine element or parts.

​

These are also called wrench. These are used for tightening loosing the nuts.

There are different type of wrench is used

  • Open ended spanner

OPEN ENDED SPANNER�

  • Combination spanner
  • Socket spanner

These are the most commonly used type of spanner in the garge. Although they may not bethe best means of tighting Or loosing a nuts. There for these are employed where ring spanner cannot work.

COMBINATION SPANNER

  • These are open on one end have hole on the other end. Thus they are combustion of open ended and the ring spanner. Initially for loosening a jammed nut more torque is required and we used ring end which will not slip after the nut is already loose.

SOCKET SPANNER

  • These type Of spanner are useful is restricted space. Where common type of spanner can’t be used.
  • Socket spanner should be included in the well equipment tool kit.
  • These consist of socket of different size which can be used with various types of handle.

TORQUE WERNCH

  • Important nut and bolts in automobile work have to be tightened with specified amount of torque, because excessive torque may result in their breakage while lesser torque they will com out loose during use. this is possible by torque wrench.

ADJUSTABLE WRENCH

  • This type of wrench have an advantage that these can be suitable for a long number of nut and bolt head sizes. Jaws of such a wrench will spring when high torque is applied due to which the wrench slip and damage the parts there for they should be used only in emergencies.

PLIE

Different types of plier of plier have been used. A plier is meant mainly for gripping only and should never be used as substitute for spanner. That will damage that nut by rounding off it’s corner.

HAMMER

  • A hammer is hand tool used for striking for operation such as denting, bending, punching, straitening and riveting. The head and handle from the two parts of a hammer. The head is made up forged carbon steel. There are various type hammer used in workshop such as cross peen, ballpeen, straight peen hammer and mallet or wooden hammer. Hammer with nylon rubber or plastic head are also available.

FILE

  • File are used for smoothing rough surface and for removing small amount of metal .They cut while bending pushed these may be classified either as single cut or double cut depending upon whether they have cut in one direction or on both sides.File may be classified according to the shape of its cross section such as flat ,triangular ,square , round and half round file.

BENCH -VICE

  • Bench vice is used to holding component while it is worked uopn.This is permanently fixed on the work bench while holding a component of soft material/metal in the vice. It is better to place to some other wooden or plastic flat between the vice jaw and the component to avoid damage to the latter.

HACKSAW

  • Hacksaw are metal for cutting metal by sawing.A hacksaw consist of an adjustable frame with handle and a repleceable hacksaw handle.The constraction of the hacksaw is such that different blade. The hacksaw blade length can be accommodated within limit.The hacksaw blade is a thin narrow stprit with teeth on one .both side and two pin holes that end.These are made of high speed steel or low alloy steel.

PISTON RING COMPRESSOR

  • A piston ring compressor is a compressor that features piston fit inside of acylinder using compression rings that seat between the piston and cylinder wall.
  • A piston ring compressor is a compressor that features pistons fit inside of a cylinderusing compression ring that seal between the piston and cylinder wall.

PISTON RING REMOVAR

  • Replacing piston ring removing the piston.To this effect,the cylinder head must be removed from the engine block, followed by the sump.
  • After unscrewing the connecting rod can removed form the top through the cylinder openings.
