Welcome to the distance learning platform! As we navigate these uncertain times, let’s do our best to remember that we are all in this together. I will do my absolute best to guide y’all through what remains of each course. I am confident of one thing and one thing only: We will all make mistakes and we will all learn from them. Please let me know if there is something that I can be doing differently to help you. Please feel free to email me a TON if that is what you need!

Here’s a little factoid about Mr. Kirschmann: I have never felt comfortable taking courses online as a student. If this platform and new way of learning is causing you discomfort, anxiety, etc., I completely understand. I’m right there with ya. However, we will get through it--together!

Can you find the sum of the distances run by Atalanta???

This morning I sent you a document with a set of numbers arranged in a triangle. This is not the complete triangle. In fact, it goes on at infinitum.

What’s the pattern?

Determine the next two rows of the triangle and email me your results.

This morning I sent out a document with powers of the binomial x+y. Remember, (x+y)^2 does not equal x^2+y^2. It means (x+y)(x+y) = x^2 + 2xy + y^2.

You should notice a pattern as you work. You should be able to check your work with the document I sent yesterday. As a matter of fact, if you notice the connection early on, completing this assignment is a BREEZE!!!

I sent solutions to yesterday’s work in an email. Be sure to check it!

Last week you previewed topics for Calculus BC. What conceptual struggles did you have? What can I clear up? Remember, you don’t need to be able to DO it, just understand the concepts. Email me your thoughts.

I emailed you one final practice AP exam this morning. It’s a BC Exam! If you are taking Calc BC next year, work it and review it over the summer. There should be plenty on here that you can complete with AB abilities. It will also be a good preview of the types of new questions to expect. Don’t let your skills degrade!!!

Email me your thoughts on the video you started last Thursday.

At the beginning of the year I had each of you fill out a student information sheet. I asked a lot of questions to try to get to know you better. I also asked you to reflect on how mathematics was involved in the things you enjoy. Many of the responses were akin to “not at all”. One of my main objectives this year has been to help you develop an understanding of just how much mathematics impacts our daily lives--even many of our interests. How successful was I? Have I expanded your mathematical world view? Did I fail to make a connection between mathematics and something you like/love? If so, let me know. I’ll see what I can come up with!

I emailed y’all a summer packet for AP Calculus for next year. You will notice that some of the work is similar or even identical to work we have done this year. The best foundation you laid for yourself this year, the less difficult next year will be. Be sure you review this material multiple times throughout the summer.
