Key Vocabulary

  • Vous venez d’où? = Where are you from? (formal)
  • Tu viens d’où ? = Where are you from? (informal)
  • Je viens de… = I’m from…
  • Je suis américain(e). = I am American.
  • Vous avez quel âge? = How old are you? (formal)
  • Tu as quel âge ? = How old are you? (informal)
  • J’ai… ans. = I am… years old.
  • Et vous ? / Et toi ? = And you?
  • Nationalities: français(e), américain(e), canadien(ne), italien(ne), espagnol(e), allemand(e), anglais(e), irlandais(e). The first is masculine and the second feminine.�You can use the first word for languages. Je parle anglais. I speak English

Quick Review

Outside of the US, when you tell someone your nationality, it’s where you were born or where you are a citizen of, not your heritage.

Aller + the infinitive … the near future�Aller is the verb to go and the infinitive is a whole (unconjugated) verb.�For ex: Je vais jouer au tennis. I am going to play tennis.
