Welcome to Mrs. Hall’s Class!

  • Guess Who: Pass out sticky notes to each student. Instruct them to write three facts about themselves on the sticky note. Then, collect all the cards, mix them up in a bucket or some kind of container, and pull the cards out one by one. Read off the fun facts on the card and then ask students to guess who it is.

Journal- What is the first thing you should do when you come into class each day?

  • Each day come into the room and have a seat at your computer!
  • Log in right away
  • When the bell rings you should be working on your journal entry!!
  • No restroom the first or last 10 minutes class. Check to see if the pass in on the board, sign out and sign back in.
  • No cell phones while Mrs. Hall or someone else is talking.
  • Do not go into the green room without permission
  • Be nice!!!
  • Try!!!!!! In your opinion, your work may be better or worse than the person next to you. Just do YOUR best!

Animation Career Profile DUE Thursday:

  • Choose an Animation professional.
    • Pick a field that you are interested- video, animation, gaming, programming, design etc.
    • Then select a professional working in that field. A director, lead artist, producer, animator, designer, etc.
    • Include why you chose this person.

  • Find the professional’s education and training
    • What college did they attend?
    • What other training has this person had?

3. Find out about the professional’s career path

  • How did they begin their career?
  • What jobs or education have they taken or completed to get to current position?
  • What media productions have they worked on, and what role did they play on each?
  • Find an interview/article where they were quoted. What did they say?

4. Analyze a media production

  • Choose a media production that this professional has worked on and write and analyse of the work.
  • What makes the production successful?
  • What role did they have in the production?
  • Is there a particular style that can be attributed to your professional?

Project Description

Create a caricature of “Joe Slick” using Flash CS4.

The animation shall be a minimum 30 cells or frames in length. The character is to be created using a variety of Flash’s drawing tools. Various colors are to be used that vary in hue, saturation, and value. Include in your animation the Principles of Animation — Straight Ahead vs. Pose-to-Pose, Solid Drawing, Appeal, and Exaggeration. Animate various parts of the face such as the eyebrows, eyes, and mouth. No sound is to be included. The stage will be the default 550 X 400 pixels but is to have a color other than white. Test movie to create the SWF file, sending it and the FLA file to the teacher through the network for grading. File names should be yourname_project1.fla and yourname_project1.swf.
