The word per means “for each.”

For example, if the price is $5 per ticket, that means you will pay $5 for each ticket.

4 tickets would cost $20, because 4 • 5 = 20.

Guidelines for drawing a double number line diagram:

  • The two parallel lines should have labels.
  • The tick marks and numbers should be spaced equally.
  • Numbers that line up vertically make equivalent ratios.
