Hyrax Fedora 6 WG Purpose

  • Initially, scope and document work needed for Hyrax to use Fedora 6 for backend storage
    • Finish Valkyrization of Hyrax to support multiple backend connections
  • As of January 2025 – Hyrax 5 release working with Fedora 6
    • Performance testing Valkyrized Hyrax 5 with Fedora 6 (local implementations and community testing)
    • Migration from Hyrax with Fedora 4 to Hyrax 5.x with Fedora 6.x

Performance Testing preliminary results

  • Phase 1
    • Use cases that DON'T require collections with 5,000+ works
    • So far, Hyrax + F6 much better performance than Hyrax + F4
      • 1 use case did not initially test as improved as other use cases – needed updates to Hyrax (not F6!)
  • Phase 2 (ongoing)
    • Use cases that DO require collections with 5,000+ works (bulk import capability needed on Sirenia)
