Add color to the Earth. You can start with a lighter value.

Add shading to the Earth. Use different values of gray, making it darkest at the edge. You can use a black colored pencil for this.

You can also use chalk pastels to add clouds and a background.

We have looked at pictures of Earth in space. We talked about using value. We drew the Earth together. Now, you will draw the Earth on your own! You can look at these pictures for ideas. If you want, you can change perspectives, instead of drawing it in space! See mine on the next slide.

Creative Response Example

I created a drawing of Earth from space, closer up. I wanted to show some mountains and lakes. I used colored pencil to shade the Earth. I used chalk pastel for the sky.
