How will I grade you?

Period	Grading	Notes
Sept- Dec	1-4 on the proficiency scale	You should be hitting proficient consistently to set you up to be ready for the exam Any assignment that scores below proficient should be re-done
Sept-Dec	/100	Percentages will be given on reporting period day (not before). This grade will be a synthesis of assignments, projects, essays, progress checks, application, class discussion, projection
Midterm Ap Lang/Lit	3 grades /100	Lang and Lit are graded separately by your different teachers; we will collaborate to decide an Eng 12 grade
Final	3 grades /100	Your final Eng Lang/ Lit 12 grades will be summative based upon your latest- and strongest- evidence of learning AP grade /5 will come out mid-July

A few things you must be doing this year...

Attend class
Take notes and organize your assignments carefully
Build vocab through lists and exposure to a range of texts
Complete the ‘optional’ practice assignments
Trust the process… it won’t always feel linear
Read avidly. Fiction, non-fiction, autobiographies, essays, short stories… the lot!
Engage in class discussion and activities
Commit to improving your writing through continued revision
Gain knowledge- Vox videos, reading, podcasts, engaging with the world around you
