PFS2E #1–10 Tarnbreaker's Trail

Levels 1-4

Venture-Captain Bjersig Torrsen has set out the call for a group of Pathfinders to compete in a race known as the Balgirdtrek. Taking place in the Land of the Linnorm Kings, this race is an annual event that includes participants from both the Varki and Ulfen people of the region. Bjersig hopes that by having the PCs participate, they might not only bolster the Society's reputation in the Saga Lands, but also document this exciting event. Although the Society has the organizers' official permission, some of the Ulfen competitors in particular see the Pathfinders' participation as an intrusion on their time-honored pastime. The true challenge of this race is not monsters or villains, but the harsh nature of the grueling marathon itself.

Ice Walk

As time, Balgird had to survive on the open ice. During one such night, the winds picked up and blew his gear across the frozen lake. He followed his trail of gear in the morning and found his scrolls frozen within a thin sheet of ice. With a lens he crafted from the ice itself, he focused the sunlight to melt it free and retrieve the scroll without damage.

Crossing the Whitegold River

Balgird spotted the tarn linnorm and gave chase to the beast. It slipped through the trees and slid past underbrush. As Balgird search, he saw it cross the Whitegold River. The water rushed by, frigid and cold and beast lurked on the other side, waiting for him to tire as he swam across. Balgird felled a sapling and vaulted across the river with as much gear as he could carry, foiling its plan and continuing the chase.

The Caribou Field

Balgird faced a terrible blizzard and survived by piling snow around him until it passed. While he was insulated from the bitter cold, his steed was not. In the bright of new snow, he tracked a herd of caribou across the tundra and watched them. He spent more than a week looking for one he could make a mount. He moved in and the herd stampeded. Just before he was trampled underneath hundreds of hooves, he slung himself and his saddle bags over a caribou’s back. It was not long before he lead his new companion out of the herd and into the taiga.

Find one of the four reindeer with bells on their antlers. Retrieve the bells without disturbing the herd. Then, you can say you are worth of Balgird.
