Course selection is an important process and should be given serious consideration. This Course Selection Guide has been prepared to guide and assist all students and their parents in the choice of courses for the 2024-2025 academic year. The advice of parents, teachers, and counselors should be utilized when choosing courses in order to ensure that students are properly placed to maximize the achievement of their abilities and talents and to prepare for their future.

It is important that you read through the Course Selection Guide and plan out not only this school year, but also future classes and programs of interest.

  • Career Institute of Technology (CIT)

  • Career & Technical Education Programs (CTE)

  • Dual Enrollment

  • Diversified Occupations (DO)

  • Advanced Placement Courses (AP)

Read: Prerequisites & Summer Assignment Requirements

  • Your Core Content Teachers (Math, History, English, �Science) will recommend/request the appropriate course on your behalf in Class Choice.

  • Course Selection Presentations (Advisory)

  • Students/Parents can review the Course Selection Website and plan course requests using the Course Selection Worksheet.

  • Students will make Elective Course Requests in Class Choice during Advisory.

  • Students may adjust courses up until the end of the school year. (School Counselor)

Requests for schedule changes must be made within 8 days of the start of each semester. After the first 8 days administrative approval is required.

Schedule changes WILL NOT be considered for the following reasons:

  • To accommodate teacher preference
  • Lateral move within the same subject area
  • Change to obtain a preferred lunch period

Refer to the Course Selection Guide for additional information about changing or dropping a class.

Keystone Exams

  • Keystone Exams are End of Course assessments in Algebra I, Literature and Biology.
  • Each exam is broken down into two modules.
  • Per PA Act 158, if a student is not proficient or advanced in all three Keystone Exams, they will have alternate pathways to meet Pennsylvania graduation requirements.

NCAA offers resources to help plan and prepare for athletic requirements and ways to ensure that you meet eligibility requirements.
