SFUSD AI Guidance

AI generated work should serve as rough draft to get you started. Errors and mistakes will occur. Staff should use their expertise to evaluate and adapt the generated rough drafts for their students/staff needs like any other resource found on the web.

Remember to NEVER have students sign up for any tool

that is not approved by SFUSD

Teachers can currently use Adobe Firefly with their SFUSD accounts

Tips for Subject Areas

English Language Arts

  • Compare what Chat GPT has to say about the text you are reading to what your peers are saying in class. Form your own opinion.
  • Analyze the essay Chat GPT has written against the text you read, look for anything missing, underline/highlight things you didn’t think about, circle ideas you liked, different color for things you already knew.
  • Take the summary from Chat GPT and come up with details that support it in class.
  • Instead of a written essay, create a podcast or talk show to discuss literary elements during class and collaboratively with peers.
  • Ask it for feedback on your writing, share the feedback with a peer to decide what to do with it.

Science, Health, and Math

  • Compare the methods that Chat GPT uses to solve problems to what you learned about it in class. Discuss with your partner and take notes.
  • Use Chat GPT to find current use cases for the topic you are studying - ie. trigonometry topics. Use it to conduct research on careers that utilize the kind of math you are learning.

Social Studies

  • Ask GPT what it thinks about the current topic that you are studying, and come up with opposing viewpoints with details to support it.
  • Use GPT to summarize the event you are studying, fill in the details in between.
