  • A story that, when told in many different ways, can shift public consciousness and change what is possible.

  • A dominant public narrative is one that overrides other narratives and has the most power to shape what is possible.

A PUBLIC NARRATIVE IS…

OUR VISION

  • FIA will increase access to quality education through building organizing infrastructure and grassroots leadership capacity across our 38 charter schools.

  • FIA will leverage the voting power of our schools by supporting the families of Oakland’s 16,500 charter students to register and turn out to vote.

17 of 36

OUR GOALS

  • Triple voter registration of charter families from 16% to 48%

  • Pre-register 100% of eligible 16 and 17 year olds at charter high schools

  • Develop 15 school based leadership teams each with 10 volunteers (youth, parents, and teachers)

  • Raise $250K from individual donors for C4

18 of 36

Charter Family Voters = 16.5% registered

KEY: strong turnout among charter families (82.7%) but by increasing the voter universe in key districts, we can be MORE impactful

  • % families are not currently registered and MAY be eligible

Public sentiment is everything…

With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it nothing can succeed.

Consequently he who molds public sentiment, goes deeper than he who enacts statutes or pronounces decisions.

He makes statutes and decisions possible or impossible to be executed.
