Project Dorm Room 2024

Be a dorm room hero

2 of 12

THIS YEAR, OVER 4,000 FORMER

FOSTER YOUTH WILL EMBARK

ON THEIR COLLEGE JOURNEY ALONE

These amazing students have overcome tremendous obstacles to get to college (only 10% of foster youth go to college and only 4% will graduate).

Despite making it to this milestone moment, most of these young people won’t have anyone there to mark the occasion or help move them into their dorms.

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL

“I arrived at my dorm room and

only had the clothes I was wearing

and a duffle filled with a few things.

My roommate had his entire family

and bags full of bedding and

supplies. I felt awful. What should

have been an exciting day for me

became a very lonely one.”

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL

“Growing up, I got used to not having a lot of support. With Ready to Succeed and Project Dorm Room, I know I’m not alone, and I’m already one step closer to my dreams. After

getting supplies from Project Dorm

Room, I felt cared for and that I was

beginning to build a supportive community.

I even felt inspired to volunteer to help other

students. RTS helped me feel welcomed and

ensured I had supplies for the upcoming

semester.”
