Project Challenge

The pilot project aims to develop the Air Quality and Green Workforce Development Program (AQ-GWDP) in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Leimert Park. Leimert Park is a low-income community facing high exposure to air pollution, limited economic development opportunities, and increased environmental health risks. The goal of the AQ-GWDP is to establish a community-based air quality monitoring network in Leimert Park that provides hyperlocal air quality data in order to increase community education and enable data-driven advocacy to improve air quality. The program also trains residents and youth in green jobs and careers in order to foster economic development.
