Towfish Track Heading (338°)

Data Overview:

  • TWR-841 LF Edgetech Towfish Data (300kHz)
    • Filename: Line-006
    • Pings ~12800-13300
  • Towfish speed data not logged during survey
    • Approximate speed 5kts
  • DiCecco Detection
    • Appears larger than FV Mistress, but data could not be speed corrected so very difficult to estimate exact size
    • Data also more consistent with older wreck site (degraded return signal strength)
    • Data quality and environmental conditions make definitive determination impossible without another survey.

Wave-like pattern and smearing starting to show at around 30-40 meter range, all the way out to 150m range. Starboard data is a good example of surface reflection impacts found throughout most of this towfish dataset. Reduces overall contrast and can hide highlight and shadow. Can make detection of targets very difficult, if not impossible, depending on the size and return strength. Lower altitude, shorter range survey would provide better results (i.e. 10m altitude, 100m range).
