JPII Dance Dress Code

Please review each slide carefully!

Students are encouraged to submit pictures of dresses/outfits being worn by student to the Dean of Formation (alliechoiniere@johnpauliihs.org) for pre-approval if concerned about meeting requirements.

Failure to adhere to the dress code may result in an infraction, immediate modification to the outfit, the need for an outfit change, and/or possible removal from the dance.

JPII students bringing a non-JPII guest are responsible for their adherence to JPII expectations and may suffer consequences for their guests’ non-compliance.

The overall style and fit of your attire should be modest, tasteful, and functional, and should not detract from the theme of the evening.

Ladies’ Dance Dress Code

  • Dresses, Gowns, or Pantsuits
    • Strapless and Spaghetti strapped dresses are permitted
  • Dresses must have a front that falls at or above the front bra line and must not show cleavage
  • The back of the dress must fall at or above the mid-back area (no lower than the bottom of the rib cage)
  • Cutouts from the back of the dress must not extend beyond the side of the body to expose midriff
  • Dress length must be mid-thigh or longer. This also applies to slits in dresses. Dresses must be of appropriate length even if leggings or sheer layers are added underneath the dress.
  • Dresses must not be see-through, and any sheer or mesh overlays, tears, or cutouts must not expose any area that should be covered (including, but not limited to, midriff and sides of torso)
  • Dresses must not be extremely fitted with the purpose of outlining the body silhouette or so fitted that they gather/rise when you walk
  • Visible tattoos or piercings (other than earrings) should not be worn or shown
  • Nice, clean dress shoes are expected (no flip flops, Crocs, Birkenstocks, slippers, etc.)
    • sneakers in tasteful condition are permitted

High heeled shoes may NOT be worn into the gym for Homecoming.

You may bring an alternative pair of shoes or choose to remove your shoes, if you wear high heeled shoes to the dance.

  • Dress pants/slacks
    • no jeans allowed
  • Dress shirt and tie required
    • no polos or t-shirts allowed
  • Sports coat/suit/tux optional
  • Nice, clean dress shoes
    • no sandals, Crocs, Birkenstocks, slippers, etc.)
    • sneakers in tasteful condition are permitted
  • dress hats (such as a fedora) permitted
    • no casual hats allowed such as ball caps, beanies, etc.
  • must be clean shaven and have a hairstyle that meets the standard dress code requirements
  • Visible tattoos or piercings should not be worn or shown
