Commuting in Berlin

5

Other than walking you can move around with public transportation, bike or scooter rented by the minute, or cab apps. Google Maps is a reliable option for all the travel options.

Public Transportation

  • We recommend downloading and setting up a payment option in advance at the BVG app:
    • Public transportation route suggestions
    • Purchasing online tickets
  • You can get an hourly, daily or weekly ticket, with/out tourist attractions discounts
  • Each public transportation ticket includes all the public transportation vehicles: bus, train, underground and street car (tram) travel
  • Unless you are going to the airport or a nearby station, you need the AB zone
  • The validation of an online ticket takes about a minute, and you can get fined if you travel without a valid ticket.
  • If you purchase a ticket at the station don’t forget to validate it after purchase. There are normally machines on the platform close to the ticket machines.

Commuting in Berlin

Other options are bikes and scooters rented by the minute

  • There are multiple apps, e.g.: Uber, Lime, Voi, NextBike (not electric), etc.

You can also move around using cabs

  • Uber and taxi.berlin are the popular apps Berlin
  • In Uber the price is set in advance, in taxi.berlin an estimated price is displayed
  • Hailing a cab is less common and usually means cash only

Accommodation

7

  • We recommend using an online platform, eg www.Booking.com (no affiliation), for accommodation, as they often offer lower rates than booking directly with hotels—though it’s always worth comparing. Plus, you can filter for hotels with sustainability certifications. 🌍

  • The venue has excellent public transport links, with buses, trams, underground, and train stations all within walking distance. If you can’t find accommodation in the city center, staying a bit further out is easy—most locations are just 20 minutes away by public transport. Simply enter your hotel address into the BVG app to find the best route to Alte Münze. 🚆
