Background

A 501(c)3 founded in 2014

Mission: Foster interdisciplinary collaboration, community, and life-long learning through spaces, events, and new technologies. Facilitate the creative community at the intersection of art, technology, and civic engagement to create, collaborate, learn, and share their work.

Why “Third Place”

In community building, the third place is a public space separate from the home (first place) or the workplace (second place). In his influential book The Great Good Place, Ray Oldenburg (1989, 1991) argues that third places are important for civil society, democracy, civic engagement, and establishing feelings of a sense of place.
