The Academic Counselor is Betsey Hoyt

Betsey helps you with:

  • Getting enrolled into classes - choosing classes that you need
  • Reviewing your transcript - help to answer the questions: “How many credits do I need?” “How long will it take to earn them?”
  • Explaining the difference between High School Diploma & High School Equivalency
  • Creating and maintaining an Education plan with you to help you reach your goals
  • Guidance, helping you stay on track, strategizing, removing obstacles or difficulties in classes & in your education path - meeting regularly throughout the year
  • Planning and discussing your long term goals- College, training programs, employment
  • All applications and the enrollment process for community college
  • Referrals to any needed services

Eva helps you with:

  • doing assignments and studying for all classes
  • finding a tutor for regular study sessions
  • dealing with difficulties you have in a class or with a teacher
  • moving your IEP or 504 from high school into the Adult School
  • working with your teacher to make assignments work for YOU!

The Transitions Liaison is Midhun Joseph

Midhun helps you with:

  • Learning about the process of going from adult school to community colleges.
  • Talking about options like: taking ESOL classes (which are free) after you finish at BAS, taking classes at BCC concurrently (free) at BCC as a high school student at BAS.
  • Talking about different careers that you can start through taking classes for certificate or associates degree at community colleges.
  • Talking about the process of getting your student education plan, financial aid and getting you connected with resources at colleges.
