Let the Coaches Coach:

There should only be one person/voice that coaches. If you are telling your son or daughter or any other player to do something - you are coaching. Even worse is if you are telling your son or daughter to do something that is different from what their coach is telling them. This creates confusion and distraction. Cheer for them, encourage them, but don't coach them.

Let the Kids Play: Soccer is a difficult game. It is made even more difficult when parents are yelling from the sidelines. Encourage them, cheer for them but do not go beyond this.

Do Not Discuss the Play of any players in front of other parents: “I don’t know how he made the team.” “She just isn’t fast enough.” Negative comments are hurtful and unnecessary and kill parent harmony – something that is essential to a team’s experience and success

Your Children listen, believe and say the same things that you say to them: A negative parent attitude often results in a negative child’s attitude. They will repeat what they hear.

Do not complain about your son or daughter’s coach to other parents: This is like a disease. If you have an issue, speak to your coach. If the issue is not important enough to speak to your coach about it, do not speak about it at all

Positive Comments From the Sideline: Make positive comments from the sidelines. You can often see a young player make an extra effort when they hear encouraging words.

Avoid negative comments about the other team: We are all working with children. These young players aren’t professionals. Speaking about the other team is tasteless, classless, and these kinds of comments will not be tolerated.

Interaction with Parents from other team: These parents are not the enemy and in many cases there can be some great conversations or discussions amongst parent groups. On the other hand, If there is a negative parent or group of parents do not engage or stoop to their level.

Referees: Like your child who will make mistakes during a game, so will a referee. These referees are learning and improving and your feedback is not needed or welcome, regardless of how good or bad you think they are doing. No coach, parent or player has EVER changed the mind of a referee - resist the urge to try.

Outbursts: Outbursts towards the referee or the other team only signal to our children on the field that it is ok to blame referees and unfairness for anything that goes wrong. Blaming others is not a formula for success in sports or in life.

‘It was in the heat of the moment’: We all feel things and are all tempted to say things in the ‘heat of the moment’. This is not a reason for an outburst. Our players who do things in the ‘heat of the moment’ get yellow/red carded, get called for fouls, etc. so we should apply similar standards to our own sideline behavior.

Walk Away: If all else fails, walk away

24 Hour Rule: If you have an issue with your coach, another parent, or club related issue, please wait 24 hours before contacting the club or the coach.

RUSH CORE VALUES

ACCOUNTABILITY: Be accountable for your actions and hold others accountable for their actions. Who am I ultimately accountable to, and who judges my work?

ADVICE: Seek out advice and aspire to be the best. In order to learn, we must be open to learning and consider the advice of others. Are you coachable?

EMPATHY: Empathy is at the core of solid relationships.

ENJOYMENT: Enjoy your work, this is a gift. The desires of diligent workers are satisfied.

HUMILITY: Apologize when you make a mistake. Forgive others and do not look back.

PASSION: Passion always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres. Passion never fails.

LEADERSHIP: Leaders strive to be trustworthy, honest and sincere. They possess traits such as integrity and honor. They are willing to serve others and sacrifice their own interests. Leaders are constructive and hardworking.

RESPECT: Respect everyone. Respect the opponent, the rules, your colleagues, your superiors and subordinates. Be thoughtful and considerate.

SAFETY: Our environment is safe. This includes the office, our travels, the fields and our bodies. Safety is not only physical safety from harm, but safety from ridicule and attack. We are comforted and encouraged in the club. We portray self-control and kindness to our staff, our colleagues and players.

TENACITY: To be successful, persevere…. persevere but do not be anxious. Fear no one. Be strong and courageous. Work when no one is looking, even when the circumstances are not right and everyone else quits. Diligence never loses because it never quits. Outwork your opponent, and most importantly, work smart. Don’t wait for external inspiration. The people who go far do so because they motivate themselves and give life their best, regardless of how they feel.

UNITY: Together all things are possible. When your teammates are down, bear each other’s burdens; conversely, celebrate your teammate’s successes.

RUSH WAY

PHILOSOPHY

RUSH WAY TO PLAY

The Rush Way to Play is based upon movement and activity by both player and ball. Possession-oriented does not fully describe how we play; attack-oriented does. Whether in possession or in defense, we are attacking. Rush Players play with freedom yet understand the importance of responsibility and the balance between the two. Rush teams are flexible and adapt to varying circumstances. The Rush Way to Play represents both passion and purpose.

1-3-5-2

The 1-3-5-2 philosophy is in place to ensure that all teams are progressing and improving consistently, as well as experiencing the emotions of winning and losing through manipulating six wins, three losses and one tie throughout the year. If a team is winning all the time, they are encouraged to schedule a scrimmage against tougher competition to be sure they are being pushed. Likewise, if a team is in a losing slump, then a scrimmage is encouraged against an opposition that they should beat, to regain a positive attitude, develop a goal scoring mentality and create confidence in defense.

PLAYERS’ SIDELINE BEHAVIOR

Players are encouraged to support other Rush teams and give their full-hearted support. Learn the Rush song; be as loud but respectful as possible and help educate the rest of the country in the way soccer should be supported, as it is in the rest of the world.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

When a coach addresses a player during training or competition, it is important the player acknowledges. Communication is two-way.

GREETING

Players are expected to greet the Staff with a handshake for all staff local, national and international. The Rush staff across the country expect their players to shake their coaches hand each time they meet. Why?...respect, build social skills, break down barriers, learn culturally accepted behavior, the list goes on.

The Rush Capelli Sport Partnership began in 2018 and will take Rush Soccer to the next level in player development.

Capelli Sport has established a sporting network that branches across the globe and into the top flights of European soccer.

MSV Duisburg and HB Koge are professional soccer teams in Europe that Capelli Sport has direct ownership in. Both teams are the destination for all Rush athletes at the professional level.

Duisburg in the German 3rd division and

HB Koge in the Danish 2nd division are excellent teams for Rush players to receive exposure at the professional level in Europe.
