Step one: Original Image

We started out with a simple image of leaves on the ground. Taken just a couple days before the September equinox, this image captures a mixture of green leaves and fall leaves, signifying that a change of seasons is approaching.

Step Two: Initial Photoshop work

We take the image into PhotoShop for the first time to mess with the color and saturation. This helped to make the fall leaves more prominent in the image and to bring a more autumn atmosphere across the photo.

Step Three: Printing for the first time

Next, we bring the updated image into the physical realm for the first time in order to be able to pass the image along to others.

Step Four: Doodling

Step Five: Back to Digital Realm

After doodling, the image is brought back into the digital realm for another round of PhotoShop. This time, we take the border outside of the image and fill it (thanks to A.I.) with leaves to make it appear that the image is nestled on top of a bundle of leaves.

Step Six: Second round of printing

The image is printed out again, but we ran into trouble with this massive white border surrounding the image. Fortunately, we would have a fix for that later on; but before that…

Step Seven: Scanning the image

…we bring the image back into the digital realm by scanning it. The giant border allowed for some room to incorporate objects into the scan, such as this leaf that had just fallen to the ground.

Step Eight: Last trip to PhotoShop

Here, we are able to clean up the border with a color change that keeps with the fall theme and becomes less of a distraction; also took the opportunity to add a little bit of shadow for the organic leaf.

Step nine: Final printing/Tracing Leaf

Using the same leaf from the scan, it is traced onto the back of the image, which is then cut out to leave us with…

From Beginning to End

Not only did our original image change, but so did the season; comparing the two images reveals how quickly we are able to shift into autumn within a span of a week.
