Takeaways and Challenges

  • CSV data
    • Unity does not have a built in CSV plug-in and most that are created by other users take knowledge of C# to understand how it works and be able to understand
  • Blender VS Unity
    • Unit’s software was much easier to use personally
    • However, Blender has a GIS software built in that allows you to install shapefiles of countries shapes and maybe play with extrusion that way while Unity has a QGIS asset that costs $46
  • Pro Builder
    • allows you to manually create shapes which was great since no CSV plug-in
    • Cannot edit the extrusion through C# script, so had to make each structure manually 🡪 quite time consuming
  • Easier to start with Unity’s VR template than try to convert 3D project into VR through installation of XR plug-ins
