My Google Search Strategy

Background: When using a search engine, like Google, to find information about your topic, you will type keywords, also called search terms, into the search bar. Google works by finding your keywords on websites.

Your Goal: Create a list of keywords related to your topic that you will use to search Google to find websites with information about your topic. Begin with one of your research questions and break it down into keywords and synonyms. Then, do the same for your other research questions.

Keyword Criteria for Success

My keywords…

  • Express the most important ideas of my research question
  • Are broad and/or specific (depending on my topic and research goals)
  • Use synonyms (words that mean the same or nearly the same)
