Our Students Future…
In changes in the last week
Decades of research link creativity with the intrinsic motivation to learn. When students are focused on a creative goal, they become more absorbed in their learning and more driven to acquire the skills they need to accomplish it.
Prompt:
Illustration of a cartoon cat with rich blue fur, swishing its tail in excitement, surrounded by floating hearts. The cat has big, round eyes filled with joy and is pointing to its brand new white shoes with one paw. The backdrop features a gradient of soft pastel colors with multiple hearts scattered around.
Example Student Work: In a group, come up with the things I would need to prompt Dall-e for to create an image that shows the life cycle of water.
Warning
Just Prompting and Pasting is Pathetic

AI created a response. Student read, edited, adjusted, and submitted.
Student consulted internet/AI for ideas, then wrote and submitted.
Student created multiple AI responses, used the best parts, edited, and submitted.

Rethinking how we allow AI use with students…
Students writes draft but AI help with editing by offering strengths and weaknesses
Student rewrites AI generated content but own improvement ideas
Student writes bullet points to include but AI writes the draft and students revises and iterarates
Student writes first draft, but asks AI for editing feedback and make corrections as needed
AI guides students through a idea generation and draft as a more of a writing coach
Student creates content until stuck, then asks AI for content or ideas to get unstuck
Which of these would act like a typical writing tutor or become a good AI collaborator?
