Hungary has been successful in the Olympic Games in several sports.   They have participated in most Olympic Summer Games since 1896, missing only the 1920 and 1984 Games, and all of the Winter Olympic Games.

SWIMMING

Krisztina Egerszegi is one of the greatest Hungarian Olympic champions. She is a three time Olympian (1988, 1992 and 1996) and five time Olympic champion.

WATER POLO

  • The Hungary men's national water polo team is world famous. They won 9 Olympic Games, 3 World Championships and 13 European Championships.
  • Some members are: Viktor Nagy, Norbert Hosnyánszki or Dániel Varga

KAYAKING

Danuta Kozák won the most gold medals in the Olympics among women in Hungary. She has one silver and five Olympic gold medals, three of them in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

FENCING

Géza Imre is a Hungarian fencer who has won 3 Olympic medals.

WRESTLING

András Sike is a retired Hungarian wrestler. He competed at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics and won a gold medal in 1988 in Seoul.

There is a wrestling gym in Eger named after him. Some students of our school go there every day for training.
