Launch Vehicle Manufacture

Examples of what to include:

Images or videos of completed launch vehicle manufacture

  • Manufacturing process steps not necessary, just finalised launch vehicle

4 of 12

OpenRocket Simulation

Examples of what to include:

Stability vs time plot for 2m rail

Essential - demonstrate all component masses and materials match between the OpenRocket and real one. If the location and masses do not match up between the simulated and real rocket it will be an automatic FRR fail.

Side by side view of labelled OpenRocket mass distribution and completed rocket to show evidence of accuracy of OpenRocket simulation

5 of 12

Recovery System Assembly

Examples of what to include:

Explanation of how the recovery system works

  • Demonstration that the payload will not be damaged by ejection charges
  • State if extra black power will be required on the launch day (ie. you are not using the motor’s ejection charge)
  • Demonstration that nothing will fall off the rocket eg. nose cone
  • Support with images of assembled recovery system eg. parachutes, nomex sheets etc. as required

6 of 12

Structural Tests

Examples of what to include:

Evidence of the complete launch vehicle passing all of the structural tests in the technical guidelines

  • Multiple slides accepted if needed
  • Pictures and videos allowed

7 of 12

Launch Vehicle Decoration

Examples of what to include:

Evidence of a decorated launch vehicle

  • Paint job, decals etc.
  • Pictures expected

8 of 12

Payload Manufacture

Examples of what to include:

Evidence of fully manufactured payload

  • Pictures expected

9 of 12

Payload Code

Examples of what to include:

Evidence of payload code developed (if applicable)

  • Video of code uploaded and functioning as intended
  • One of the biggest hold ups on the launch day from experience will be teams coding last minute. All teams are expected to turn up with their code already developed and should not count on there being sufficient back up slots if they are not ready for their slot

10 of 12

Payload Tests

Examples of what to include:

Evidence of payload tests having been completed (if applicable)

Examples include:

  • Deployment tests
  • Integration into the launch vehicle
  • Demonstration of quick and easy arming of the payload

11 of 12

Any other relevant flight critical tasks

Examples of what to include:

Evidence of completing anything else that would prevent your team from launching if your launch slot was tomorrow
