They are kind of similar because they are both based on a true story and both have something to do with voyaging to New Zealand in the 1800s. The share the same audience which is age 10 and 11 year olds, They are both school journals.

Year 5 & 6 & 7 - because it is Part 3 - level 3
Teh text - it has more complicated than a picture book. But not as hard words as an adult book and not so many.; So would you go to it for history - no because its only based on history. You would want to go to something else - to the history part of the library , Type in a keyword like - NZ History is a good website
